3 Proven Strategies to Get More Traffic to Your Blog

traffic to your blog

Getting the word out about your blog is difficult. Even if you do everything right, it will probably be at least a couple of months before word starts to spread. It is easy to get caught up in using the latest social media to promote your blogs or even resort to paid advertising to get people to show up, but neither buying ads nor joining a bunch of social media sites you don’t like will help you that much. There is no definite way to bring a lot of traffic to you immediately, but everyone can do things to make it more likely for a few people to find your blog and then those people can tell a few more and large amounts of traffic will come in time. The sooner you start strategizing to bring more traffic to your blog, the better off you’ll be.  Here are 3 proven strategies to achieve this.

1) Create Interesting and High Quality Content

It doesn’t matter how many people see your blog if they don’t think it’s worth their time. Hackneyed content full of typos, cliches, and grammatical mistakes, not to mention very little organization is sure to leave you in obscurity, and rightfully so. No one wants to spend time reading poorly written content over an idea they can find on hundreds of other blogs. When writing your blogs, make sure the information is useful and interesting. If it’s current, unique, and helpful, then people will be much more interested in what you’re writing. Images and videos are also good, as well as links to sources of more information make your content better. Make it easy for them to read the information they want and know what you are saying. Also, the longer the better. Longer content usually gets more likes and shares than shorter pieces and will give your readers more information.

Wait until you have several posts before promoting your blog. People prefer seeing a huge wealth of knowledge in one place, and if your blog looks undeveloped to them, then they will rarely come back. It is always important to have a significant amount of good content before you worry about how to get more traffic to your blog.

2) Announce on Social Media that You’ve Started a Blog

Look at the different social media sites that you are active with and you have the most followers on. Make an announcement saying that you have started a blog about your industry or niche and link your post to your blog. You don’t have to have a professional social media presence or even a lot of accounts to promote your blog. You can get plenty of traffic and useful feedback from family and friends. They will be your most devoted followers, after all, and more than willing to put the word out about your blog. Family and friends are also going to be the ones who want you to succeed the most, so they will give you constructive criticism on your blog so you’ll know what looks good and what needs to be improved.

3) Guest Post

Instead of writing a post for your own blog, it can actually be more beneficial to write that post for another blog. This can be good for you for many reasons. You will be put in front of a bigger audience who will be drawn to your blog, and a link to your own site, which is also good for SEO. This is a great way to get people to your blog who are interested in your niche.

To do this, you will need to do some Googling to find blogs in the same niche as you. If possible, narrow down your prospective blogs to the first couple pages of Google. If they are that far up in the SEO, then their blogs are well-developed and have lots of traffic. Go on their site and read some of their posts before looking at their contact information. Send them an email telling them how much you like their blog and that you also write in that niche. Ask them if they would be okay with you guest posting on their blog. Leave a link to your blog in the email and say that you can send them a couple of ideas and they can decide which post they would rather have on their blog. Some well-written guest posts placed on a popular blog or two will get more traffic to your blog for a long time.
